Our (sometimes painful) experience is that, in order to work, partnering arrangements need to be based on something concrete. The thee main criteria to consider are:

  • A focus on a specific service or product that makes sense for both parties to be involved in.

  • Providing something unique (product, market, service) that we could not otherwise provide.

  • Partnering should not put us in competition with each other. 

Existing partnering arrangements include software development and sales, training on a geographically exclusive basis with an organization that promotes public events,  swapping referrals with non competitive organizations that deal with a similar client base, and providing consulting services in environments where my brand is clear and my material is not co-branded.
